Case Study - Poynton High School | Award Nomination 2016

Case Study:

David Waugh, Headteacher
Poynton High School

Practice:
Since taking headship at Poynton High in September '13, David has led the transformation of his school's leadership culture to one which is more outward-looking and strategic. In a peer review of the school, interviews with staff demonstrated growth in the confidence, skills and self-awareness of leadership, as well as the impact of an emerging coaching culture and increased leadership development opportunities for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Impact:
Staff at Poynton reflected upon a shared language of leadership and a heightened awareness of leadership as a craft and not just a role. David’s strategic and practical commitment to the provision of a Whole Education has been at the core of a cultural shift that is not only improving the achievement of young people, but also deeply supporting staff to enable that to happen.
