We are delighted that the Whole Education Award for A Whole Education Curriculum in 2016 was sponsored by OCR.
 
As part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a department of the University of Cambridge, OCR is committed to providing qualifications that engage learners of all ages at school, college, in work or through part-time learning to achieve their full potential. We are passionate about ensuring the learners of today have the breadth of knowledge and necessary life skills needed to meet the demands of business and industry. By developing our qualifications in close consultation with employers, teachers and industry leaders, they are proven to support people’s education, raising their confidence and aspirations.

Practice:
Pete has worked tirelessly over the last year to design and implement a foundation subjects curriculum which is relevant, rich and rigorous for all Whitemoor pupils. This project-based curriculum has placed huge emphasis on providing the skills, qualities and knowledge needed for life and work - for example through the whole school enterprise topic which culminates in the children selling their products to the local community. Recognition of the rounded nature of the curriculum has come from far and wide, with the school gaining the International School Award, Healthy Schools Award, SRE Charter Status and Centre of Excellence in Financial Education recognition.
 
Impact:
The impact the curriculum has had on pupils at Whitemoor has been marked, with attendance standing at a 16 year high of 96.6% (having not long ago fell below floor standards). Also Year 6 pupils left in July having achieved the school’s best ever results at L4+ in both reading and writing. What’s more, the school has become a beacon (both locally and nationally) for staff development in PE and PSHE, with institutions such as Nottingham Trent regularly visiting to observe best practice.
