Leadership of Curriculum and Pedagogy for Middle Leaders

 

Curriculum matters. It determines what our young people do for most of the time they are with us in school. Schools and staff have more choices than we often feel. This new programme is designed to support aspiring and existing Heads of Department and Subject Leaders to desing and implement a relevant and engaging curriculum that delivers in both conventional and in wider ways that will truly prepare students for life and work.

Day 1 - Values-Led Leadership and Curriculum Design
+ Considering a holistic approach
+ Designing a whole education curriculum
+ Narrowing the attainment gap
+ Preparing young people for learning, life and work
+ Introducing the Impact Study

  
Day 2 - Being evidence-informed and impact-focussed
+ Ideas into implementation
+ Implementation and Impact
+ Case studies of whole education curriculum through learning walk and guest speakers
+ Evidence and Impact: using the Network and wider research to increase impact
+ Working with subject and curriculum specialists on curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in your area


Day 3 - Providing a Whole Education 

+ Providing a whole education within the main curriculum
+ Your leadership journey
+ Sharing and celebrating Impact Studies
+ Certification

 
The Facilitator 
The programme is facilitated by Chris Holmwood, Principal of Shenley Brook End School's Leadership and Training Centre. Chris has been an NCSL consultant leader for ten years and, more recently, Leadership Director for Whole Education. Chris is passionate about values-led leadership development and its impact upon school improvement. Chris is supported by David Crossley, Executive Director of the Whole Education Network.
