Increasing belonging in schools — Sadie Howson and Camilla Saunders

What does it take to create a school where every student feels seen, valued, and connected? In this interactive session, Sadie Howson and Camilla Saunders will explore practical, research-informed approaches to deepening belonging across your school community.

About the speakers:

Sadie Howson is Director of Inclusion at The 3–18 Education Trust. A qualified NASENCO, she has worked in several schools including Coleham Primary School, and specialises in SEND—championing equity for all and ensuring every child has a voice that is heard. Before moving into education, Sadie held global business leadership roles, working to expand markets and provide strategic support.

Camilla Saunders is Director of Inclusion at Anglian Learning. She graduated from Homerton College, Cambridge, with a BEd (Hons) in History and Primary Education in 1996. Before joining Anglian Learning in 2021, she spent ten years at Bottisham Village College in roles including Teaching Assistant, Class Teacher, SENCo, DSL and Assistant Principal. Camilla is a qualified Nurture Practitioner, a Specialist Teacher for Specific Learning Difficulties, an Access Arrangement assessor, and holds the NASENCo award. Passionate about safeguarding and mental health in schools, she has worked as a SEMH advisor for the East Cambridgeshire Opportunity Area and currently represents the education sector on a number of national forums and steering groups alongside the NHS, Public Health England and the National Children’s Bureau.
