Mick Waters: From big picture to detail — Leading, teaching, learning...what matters?

This session will explore the importance of holding on to what we value and seeing the big picture of our vision in the detail of everyday practice, whether as teacher or school leader. It will see the world thought the eyes of the pupils in the context of our big decisions, policies and strategies. There will be practical suggestions for things to try in school.

Mick Waters, former Director of Curriculum for England and Chief Education Officer for the City of Manchester, leads the session. With extensive experience working alongside schools, MATs, and local authorities, Mick supports the development of teaching approaches and curriculum designed to maximise children’s learning. He also advises governments internationally on education policy.
