Research and practical strategies for paying “smarter” attention — Professor Davide Nicolini
I will share key insights from my research on the attentional challenges managers face. Drawing on our observations and building on the idea of a personal attention infrastructure, I will discuss how these leaders address these challenges, highlight common traps to avoid, and share practical strategies for paying “smarter” attention.
About the speaker
Davide Nicolini is a Professor of Organization Studies at Warwick Business School, where he directs the IKON Research Centre and leads the Organization and Work group. He is also an adjunct professor at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo. He is interested in organisational attention, expertise, knowledge, safety, and innovation. He has studied or is currently studying hospitals, healthcare organisations, managerial work, construction sites, factories, public organisations, cybersecurity, pharmacies, scientific laboratories, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Since 2019, he has been a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences.
