Making “holistic education” meaningful and real — Professor Phillipa Cordingley and Bart Crisp
How does clarifying exactly what we mean by “holistic education” help us build a shared understanding of how we go about serving the needs of ALL our learners, and help us add value?
In this session you will pool your thoughts and experiences of holistic education with colleagues, and build on CUREE’s expertise in and tools for gathering evidence, to help you to a) add value in your schools, and b) make sure holistic education is set up to help everyone thrive. While the inherent value of holistic education is becoming more widely appreciated, questions remain about what exactly teachers and school leaders can and should be doing to ensure it is implemented effectively. Self-evidently key is enhancing holistic education without punishment from accountability-oriented systems. In this session we will use focus group tools, which can be applied in your schools, to clarify your own thoughts and experiences, and access those of your peers.
