This year we are delighted to be supporting The Next Decade Conference on 25th April in Leeds, which will bring leading experts together for a day of Next Decade thinking.

Renowned author and broadcaster Matthew Syed will set the tone for the day before a wide array of experts will take platforms on inclusion, creativity, unconditional positive regard, levelling-the-playing-field and what we can learn from research. Leaders and practitioners will be immersed in philosophies, provoked to challenge perspectives and practice and will have the opportunity to forge connections with other like-minded individuals.

Over twenty National Guest Speakers will take platforms across five stages running concurrently throughout the day:

  • Unconditional Positive Regard places the individual needs of students at the forefront, advocating for complete acceptance and respect through relational practice and positive behaviour support. The nation’s leading Relational Practice experts will delve deeper into how this philosophy upholds high expectations and standards whilst supporting behaviour through regulation, connection, understanding and restorative practice.

  • Education should be innovative and creative by design. Learning is an inherently creative process. Our school’s should aim to light fires in our student’s imaginations to encourage them towards their fullest potential. We should immerse our students in rich experiences that enable them to realise their passions. Creatively Connected brings to the stage renowned specialists in nurturing creativity through pedagogy; how the creative arts ignite imagination and how to foster creativity in all its forms.

  • The principle that every person has a fair chance to succeed, regardless of their starting point or characteristics, should lie at the heart of any just society. Breaking down the barriers to social mobility, and championing diversity, is essential. A Level Playing Field platforms authors, advocates and practitioners who will discuss the subtle nuances, and not-so-subtle injustices of inequity, share stories and discuss the latest research to inspire thinking and change.

  • Background or need should never be a barrier to opportunity. An inclusive approach requires that we consider the needs of the individual as our start point. It means creating an accessible pathway to success for everyone. Inclusion is not One-Size-Fits-All. It demands sophistication, in the form of continuous reflection, adaptation and evaluation. United In Inclusion will challenge existing methodologies and practices that we know disproportionately affect vulnerable and minority groups. Our expert speakers, bolstered by their wealth of knowledge, will share real-life experiences and techniques on how to curate inclusive cultures in our schools for the betterment of all.

  • Evidence based, expert led, high quality research should play a fundamental role in fostering a dynamic and adaptive education system that meets the ever evolving needs of students and communities. The Research Informed stage will welcome academics and practitioners whose research is shaping how we view education and our view of how education is shaping us.

This is our time to author the future of education in England. Join us for what is certain to be an inspiring and thought-provoking day, for if it is not to be us who author The Next Decade, then who?
