In this session, Gary will share some of the insights gathered from working with over 100 MATs in relation to SEND, through the Whole Education SEND School Improvement programme. Through a focus on 7 core themes - Intent, Implementation, Impact, Working with Learners and Families, Provision Mapping, Identification and Effective Use of Teaching Assistants - he will suggest ways forward for MAT Leaders in how they support, guide, challenge and lead their schools in relation to SEND.

Gary Aubin is a SEND specialist, author and former trust-wide Director of SEND. He wrote The Lone SENDCO and The Parent’s Guide to SEND (2025) and supports schools and the EEF in developing evidence-based inclusive practice.
