This session explores how trusts need to sustain strategic leadership of literacy, building knowledge of staff but shifting a legion of teaching behaviours too.

Alex is a nationally recognised literacy specialist, author and former school-leader. He began as an English teacher before leading a research school and is now Head of Content & Engagement at the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), translating research into classroom practice. His books include Closing the Reading Gap, Closing the Vocabulary Gap, Why Learning Fails and The Confident Teacher.
