Dan Conley: Smart Learning School — A Hive-Mind Approach to Metacognition

How can schools develop a shared, whole-community approach to metacognition that supports every learner, not just the most confident or articulate? In this session, Dan Conley introduces the Smart Learning School model: a hive mind approach that embeds metacognitive strategies across classrooms, staff teams and support structures. Drawing on his work with Co-op Academies Trust and his experience leading In-School Alternative Provision, Dan explores how metacognition can empower even the most vulnerable students to take ownership of their learning.

Dan Conley is Director of In-School AP at Co-op Academies Trust and founder of Smart Learning School. He works nationally with organisations including Impetus and The Difference to help schools remove barriers and re-engage students at risk of exclusion.
